a little side tracked

so it's been awhile once again since i got on here. funny thing is, i sign on to blogger every other day or so and read everyone elses...why in the world i haven't done a post is beyond me.

in my defense, i have been a little busy, overwhelmed, and well busy. schools almost over for the semester...thank goodness. and the wedding plans are slowly but surely distracting me. i have so many ideas, but really haven't acted on them. through this entire planning process i've come to find out that i'm a very indecicive person...who would have thought.

I've gone dress shopping several times, went back to david's bridal twice, to try on the same dress, and still i have no dress in the closet. i'm taking my time to say the least. but i did get my invites today, so that's progress right? i think so.

the planning has been so much fun, overwhelming, and very exciting. i'm looking forward to the next few months watching the plans all come together.

that's all for tonight.

We are both so excited and overwhelmed at the same time. where do we start planning? so many ideas, thoughts and emotions are running through our minds....but for the time being we are sitting back and enjoying this amazing time in our lives. We look forward to walking down the isle and saying our I Do's. I'll keep you posted on wedding plans :)

hmmmm

I'm proud of myself. I've been on here a few times so far this week, and i'm stoked. it's been my little goal to get on here and blog at least a few times a week. we'll see how this pans out once school starts into full swing.

between work and school..i hope i have time to sleep. this morning while i was looking at my week ahead, i suddenly felt very exhausted. i get a day off next saturdsay! i'm very excited.

Right about now, i'm looking forward to my vacation...guess i'll have to wait until december :(

Today involves trying to crack open some homework, visit the parents, then work at two until close. Honestly not looking forward to target on a sunday...i usually stop running around at eight o'clock. but maybe, since it's supposed to be so nice outside, they'll all be at the orchard....lily would like that. yesterday was lily's first day of work at the apple orchard...i heard she had fun. i also heard that her feet were killing her, and she worked so hard. (welcome to the big girl club kid) and today's her second day.

Well, off to get a few things done before my day starts. Hope you all have a nice and relaxing sunday.

I'm impressed

So I do have to say that I am impressed. I've been on here twice in the same month...actually twice in the same week for that matter. I'm pretty impressed. No big deal.

Speaking of big deals...today was my first LAST day of college. If that doesn't put a happy grin on your face, then I don't know what does. So Dave and I went to Ann Arbor to celebrate. We went to Mongolian BBQ and then strolled down the street and enjoyed some dessert at Whole Foods. Dave wasn't too pumped on the idea of going to a grocery store to get dessert, but i totally proved him wrong. He also didn't like the fact that it's an organic grocery store. But lo and behold, i proved him wrong. we indulged in a few different desserts, and felt like total fatties, but so delicious. we bought 3 desserts, i promise you, they were all bite size..well almost bite size : cream puff ( borderline amazing), chocolate eclair ( melted in my mouth) and a chocolate truffler ( that really was bite size.) but anyways, they were sooo good. I'm a fan, and whole foods will be seeing more of me...even though my wallet doesn't think that this is a good idea. but, hey, what's life without a few treats?!

So the weekend's coming up. it's full of homework :( not yet ready for it and work. Dave swung up into town for a few days, and is heading back home on friday or saturday.

So right now, i'm enjoying this wonderul cool night, watching my boyfriend dance in the living room....poor guy, he has no idea what a dork he looks like.

Summer flew by...

So, once again, I didn't surprise myself when I didn't keep up on my blog. Summer has gone by way too fast. I was able to do spring and summer courses, all while doing other summer things such as swim, camp, fish, etc. so taking classes this summer wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be.

This past month, was filled with tons of camping trips. The first weekend of August, my parents hosted the Thompson family reunion ( mom's side) which was a lot of fun. I was able to catch up with the family, and even meet some new ones. Over 90 people showed up at the house. The weekend after that was followed by a camping trip to Indiana Dunes State Park. We met kelli and dad there, and dave drove over from Ohio. It was a lot of fun, and the water was extremly warm. The weekend after, was our Traverse City trip, with the Lassila Family.

I've felt like such a part timer this month, since almost every weekend i have been out of town. But, now that summer's to an end, it was all worth it. school starts in two days ;( i'm not ready for it, but it's my LAST year! I can not believe it's almost over. So, i'm going to suck it up, and knock it out.

Wonderful Weekend

Well it's been a week since i've been on here, but at least it's not four months like the last post...so i'm fairly proud of myself :)

busy busy week. spent my week working and finishing up my spring finals! i'm only three more semesters from graduating...should be done next spring....if all goes as planned. so i enjoyed my last weekend off, and on tuesday i start the summer semester..hopefully this semester goes as fast as the last.

dave came into town on wed night and we had a great weekend together and with the group. thursday dave and i went swimming and the boys came over that evening to work on the honda while us girls sat in the garage and visited. it felt like summer again..not a care in the world and enjoying the long summer nights. friday was painful when i had less than five hours of sleep...but it was well worth it. friday was girls night out! we went out for dinner and shared pizza and laughs, followed by the balloon fest. so many people but so fun and the night was finished with fire works.

saturday dave and i went canoeing on the lake, swimming, and i took him back to the balloon fest so he could finally get his corn dog. for all of you who do not know, dave loves carny good and would possibly kill for a corn dog...well not really, but that's how much he loves them. finally, he had to make his way back to columbus, and i couldn't keep him in town any longer.

then today, the lassila's and i volunteered at the camp michitanki golf outing. aside from the crazy weather which consisted of rain, crazy lighting, and a tornado warning, it was a lot of fun. the guys got to golf, and jen and i had fun crusing the course.

so all in all, this past week was great. i'm enjoying the summer nights and spending time with my friends and family.

more blogs to come :)

wow 4 months....really?!?!

so my idea to blog everyday is long gone. i can not believe it's been so long since i've been on here...kind of embarassing really.

as you can imagine, much has happened, and things are not the same as they were months ago.

i finished my junior year :) and now i'm working on spring and summer courses, so if all goes planned i should be graduating next spring...finally.

dave's in columbus right now, and is enjoying his job. he works at republic airlines with trevor, and it sounds like the two of them are doing more joking then working, but at least they're having fun. dave was able to find a nice apartment in north columbus, which is a one bedroom, with plenty of living space. he has a den, sun room and living room....more than us girls over here.

summer is flying by. i feel like i've spent half my summer at target, but that should be changing soon. next month dave and i have a camping trip planned with bridget and trevor, then a week up in the keewenaw....which i'm so excited to see the lassila camp. i've heard nothing but great stories of the camp, along with the beautiful scenery :)

the girls and i have been crazy busy, but still have been able to find time to take a quick dip in the pool.

well this was a very brief update of my life, but better than nothing. hopefully i can find the time and courage to get back on here and blog. from the short time that i was on here, i did enjoy it. i figured i should jump back on here, since i've had people ask me when i'm going to get back on. so here i am....

enjoy.

what a week. it's been busy around here and i haven't been able to blog as much as i would have liked to...it's been over a week. it's pretty sad. schools been very busy and much activity is going on with dave. he's been applying for jobs around the country and now they are starting to pour in. there was quite the dry spell for a while, and now it's getting down to decision time. he went to columbus the week before last, and then he went down to cleveland this week. yesterday he got a call from cleveland and was offered a job, which he decided to take today. so as i've been trying to deal with the big exciting news, and starting to prep myself, he got a call today from the job in columbus...another job offer! way too exciting. dave had already made his decision about moving to cleveland and when colombus was thrown in the mix he said..." it feels like sombody put my brain in a blender and put it on high." poor guy. so as he was trying to work everything out and weigh his possible options he got another phone call. this time, it was from delta! finally a local job. so as this crazy week is starting to wind down, decisions need to be made. i know everything is going to work out, but until then we can only hope for the best. we had made plans to drive down to cleveland tomorrow to go apartment shopping for him, but now i have no idea what tomorrow will bring. any ideas to do on my day off?

i have tomorrow off and then i have two more days of work before i fly out to arizona! i can not wait until i see the sunshine for a week! jenny and jordan are flying down on friday and we'll be there until wed afternoon. it's going to be nice to catch up with the grandparents and take a break from school and work...it's much needed. i think that if i step foot in target again i might explode. i recently got a new job position, which is nice, but it comes with a lot more responsibility. i'm managing the front lanes, and the people i get to deal with are even better! ( pick up on the sarcasim yet?) i'm continually surprised by the people who come to me looking for answers or questions. get this, the other day a woman left one of her bags at the checkout after she paid for it. she then called the store looking for her lost items, and i reassured her they were safetly behind the counter, waiting to be picked up. no problem right? wrong. she then asks me if she can have them delivered because she lives in howell, and it's too far to drive! seriously? do you honestly think that we deliver items to people's homes? she was pretty let down when i told her we do not offer that service, and she'll have to get her butt in the car. so that's just a bit of what i deal with. i can't wait to see what sunday brings me. wish me luck.

i'm so bad at this

I've been so bad at keeping up with the blogging. so of course i'm a few days late with these, but better late than never. i'm missing my saturday pic, but i'll find it sooner or later. the pic of us girls is from the super bowl party sunday. dave cooked awesome hamburgers, and us girls sat back and relaxed. the evening was spent eating way too much and paying attention only to the commericals. good night.

this whole picture 365 is really starting to get a little hard. i'm not sure if i should be admitting it, since it is only february. but i'll just have to keep working on. another pic is of our apartment and the massive amount of shoes that are collected at the door. it's sad to say, but almost half of these are mine. we try to have a limit of 2 shoes up at the front door, yah not being followed very well.

yesterday we had a snowday. first now day of my college experience...it only took 3 years. so i thought with my day off i could catch up on some homework... that was a well intended thought, totally didn't happen. my mom called and said she was making cupcakes, so jenny and i headed over there at 1pm and didn't leave until after 8! we spent our day in the kitchen whipping up tons of goodies. we made delicious chocolate carmel salted cupcake...to die for if i might add. cherry chip cupcakes, and my mother made a delicious blueberry coffee cake. dave came over and made us dinner too..compliments to paul and paula's homemade pizza recipe. needless to say i went home quite full. it was a fun day to spend a snowday in the kitchen with friends and family.

today, i need to spend my time doing homework. lots to do before tomorrow. hope you all have had a wonderful week.

You know those days when you get the mean reds.....? (Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's)

"You know those days where you get the mean reds? not the blues. the days where you are just sad and you don't know why? That's when i jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's..." ( Audrey Hepburn)

Today, i needed my own Tiffanys. Work started my morning off and it wasn't the best. feeling a bit icky, i hope i'm not getting sick, i didn't feel like doing much today. nothing seemed to interest me. so, it's one of those days, the mean reds. the girls and i had a girls night, watched a few movies, made dinner, and just hung out. then it was time for hockey, all went but me. i whipped up a bubble bath, found a good book, and relaxed...boy did it feel good. now i know why my mom loves her bubble baths. now i'm enjoying my movie, can you guess which one? breakfast at tiffany's. it's so weird being home alone. sharing a place with four other girls, it's very rare to find yourself home alone, and if you do, just wait a few more minutes, and somebody will be there. i enjoy living with the girls, but i've come to learn that i do like my alone time. tomorrow night, dave, justin, jess and i will be putting on our flannel shirts and white tees and heading down to the monster jam. the thought of it doesn't strike me as extreme fun, but try everything once right? so we'll see what this weekend brings. day off tomorrow, and i'm so looking forward to it. hope you all have a great weekend.

pics from tues-fri.

tuesday: emma and i attempted to make that delicious carmel corn. it didn't go as planned, but it didn't taste horrible :)

Wednesday: Emma's shoes were lying around the house. she's super lucky we don't wear the same size, other wise i'd be wearing them!

Thursday: Happy Birthday Jenny!

everyone loves a cupcake

YUM! Jenny and I took a break from studying today and drove down to ann arbor and endulged ourselves with cupcakes. When walking around town this weekend, we saw the cupcake station, and it was calling my name. a short fifteen minutes later we found ourselves inside the shop, and i fell in love. it was basically love at first sight. i had a classic cupcake, a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. there will definetly be more trips to this shop. so of cours my pic of the day will by my cupcakes.

the weekend went by way too fast. dave and i hung out as his parents house yesterday. we enjoyed paul's homemade pizza...a sunday tradition in the lassila house, and dave and i made a batch up popcorn. we tried a recipe i got from my mom. it only took us two tries, but we got it done. dave calls it mexican popcorn, but it's basically a carmel corn with spice to it. there's chili powder and pepper flakes in it. it may sound bad, but it's basically popcorn heaven.

Good Monday so far. Can't wait to see what the week brings me. :)

winter fun

Winter blahs are hitting us all around the apt. seems like it's too cold to do anything and we need some change in our lives. i decided that we should all head down to ann arbor for the morning to check out the ice carving festival. nobody was too keen on going since it's too cold, but after a little bribery with food, everybody was game. the girls and i cooked up a mean breakfast that the guys couldn't resist. we made scrambled eggs, pancakes, and fruit salad served with juice and coffee. after over eating, we headed down and checked out all the ice sculptures. it's really neat to see the artists at work. even though it was super cold out, it wasn't too bad with the sun, and jumping in and out of shops. it's a good thing i didn't bring my wallet, very cute stuff we found today. it was a great saturday morning spent with friends and nice weather. happy weekend to you all.

the days are flying by

where has the time gone? i feel like january was hardly here and now it's almost february. i have so much to, and i keep putting it off, thinking i'll have the time...apparently not. schools back in full swing, and for some reason i can not get back on track. last semster i was so organized and ready but after my nice winter break and not working too much these days, i feel like i'm on vacation still. i could use a reality check..anyday now. aside from my busy life with school and the occasional work, i want to try scrapbooking again. i have some pictures from this winter i've been meaning to scrap, and now i've got the perfect idea. this winter dave and i took a little visit to ann arbor, and we went into a whimsical shop where i found tons of old keys, with ornate detailing. so somehow i need to incorporate the keys into the scrapbook. aside from my little to do lists, i also need to jump in the kitchen and try to make some homemade bread. i got a wonderful recipe from dave's parents, such hopefully i can make it just as well as they did. i'm really excited to try it out. since moving out, i've been trying new recipes in the kitchen, using the roommates as test subjects. i'm still trying to tackle my julia child cookbook, one recipe at a time. i did get the chance to make crepes and a chocolate cake. the recipes and the scrapbooking will have to wait for now...visiting my parents house for the evening. about to chauffeur lily around town, pick up dinner, and catch up with the family. it feels good to be home, i kind of miss the noise, yelling, dogs barking...the usual around any house i guess......happy Wednesday :)

Too Much Fun

Had a wonderful weekend visiting kelli. many late nights, ate bad food, and spent lots of time giggling, it was like we were 16 again ;) it was great to catch up and have kelli show us around her new home. we spent our time down there shopping, watched a flick chick, and even got to go to the beach! it was a little cold, but it was fun to snap some pictures. reality came crashing down on monday when i had to go back to class. i had tons of work to catch up on, and i still don't feel like i've finally caught up. today dave came over, and we had a nice breakfast with emma and jenny. emma whipped up a wonderful batch of scrambled eggs and jenny and i made pancakes. you would think that being 18 and 20 we would know how to make pancakes....not so much, i guess it's a thing that comes with time. dave and i also visited the holocaus musuem today which was very interesting....the musuem is in farmington and it's also free, so it was a great thing to check out and it didn't hurt out wallet. we also got to visit my grandparents which was so nice, it was great to catch up with them. now the evening is winding down and i'm glad i got to jump on here before wednesday starts. hope you all have a great week.

p.s. posting some pics from the weekend, and i'm still working on project 365!

I have an idea....

I think i'm going to take on a new task this year. I want to try and take a picture everyday for the year and look back on it. i know i'm a bit late, we're twenty one days into 2010, but better late then never right? i think it's going to be fun. Going to Chicago this weekend with jenny and jess to go visit kelli, so this will be a good start. I leave in five hours, and i still have packing, laundry, and homework to finish, so i guess i this is a good picture to post... my life...homework :J

Here Goes a Shot

Well, it's my first time blogging...what to write? I have been intrigued by blogging, and after following some of my friends blogs, I thought that it would be fun to give this a shot. I hope to keep up with this, I figure this could be a great spot for me to let my creative juices flow, and allow me to keep track of my crazy life. I hope this is fun :)
